Tax Preparation

Tax returns prepared by credentialed CPAs — not software.

Individual, partnership, S-corp, and C-corp returns, e-filed in all 50 states. Every return reviewed line-by-line by a Florida-licensed CPA before it reaches your signature.

Overview

What "tax preparation" actually means at HYK.

Most tax prep services hand your documents to software, print whatever comes out, and ask you to sign. That's not preparation — that's data entry. Real tax preparation means a credentialed professional reading your documents in context, asking the questions software won't, and structuring the return so you pay exactly what you owe. Not a dollar more.

Every return we prepare follows the same four-stage workflow: we gather and verify documents, a senior preparer drafts the return in CCH Axcess, a CPA reviews every line for accuracy and planning opportunities, and you review the draft with annotated notes before anything is e-filed. We catch missed deductions, flag audit risks, and spot planning opportunities for next year — none of which happens when software is doing the work.

We prepare federal, state, and local returns in all 50 states. Our preparers handle everything from straightforward W-2 filers to multi-state businesses with international reporting requirements (Forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 926). No return is too simple or too complex.

Forms we file
1040, 1040-NR, 1120, 1120-S, 1065, 1041, 990, 706, 709, and all related schedules. International forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8938, 926, and FBAR.
Two-CPA review
Every return gets prepared by a senior analyst and reviewed by a separate CPA before release. No single point of failure.
All 50 states
Multi-state residents, remote workers, and businesses with nexus in multiple states — we handle the apportionment so you don't have to.

FAQ

Common questions about tax preparation.

What documents do I need to send you?
After you sign the engagement letter, you'll get a personalized checklist tailored to your situation. For most individuals: W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, mortgage interest statements, prior-year return, and any deductible receipts. For businesses: year-end P&L, balance sheet, trial balance, prior-year return, and any new asset acquisitions.
How long does it take?
Individual returns: 10–14 business days from complete document submission. Business returns: 3–4 weeks. During peak season (Feb–Apr 15), add a week. Rush preparation available for a 25% premium if you need it within 5 business days.
Do I have to come to Florida?
No. We're 100% virtual by default. Documents go through our encrypted portal, reviews happen on video, returns are e-signed and e-filed. About 60% of our clients have never met us in person.
What if the IRS has questions later?
For the first 30 days after filing, IRS correspondence on any return we prepared is handled at no extra charge. After that, it falls under our IRS Representation service — which most clients never need because returns are prepared correctly the first time.
Can you handle late or amended returns?
Yes. Unfiled returns going back multiple years, amendments to returns filed by others, and corrections to your own prior returns are all routine for us. We also handle reasonable-cause penalty abatement requests when appropriate.
